![]() ![]() ![]() Oh, don’t forget the intriguing part where it says “still not much murdering”, which implies that there has been SOME. The AI is so human-like that it finds itself addicted to entertainment and aware that as a murderbot (a goal it seems to have for itself) it is a failure. ![]() This AI has hacked its governor module, which we don’t know exactly what it means, but we have a pretty good guess (vagueness is better than specifics in this case) and that isn’t going to be a good thing for the humans it encounters. Right away you realize that the robot is an artificial intelligence and that the book opens with its point of view. Quite simply one of the best book openings I have ever read, for so many reasons. As a heartless killing machine, I was a terrible failure. ![]() It has been well over 35,000 hours or so since then, with still not much murdering, but probably, I don’t know, a little under 35,000 hours of movies, serials, books, plays, and music consumed. I COULD HAVE BECOME a mass murderer after I hacked my governor module, but then I realized I could access the combined feed of entertainment channels carried on the company satellites. ![]()
